As a Managing Director at Fairmount Partners, Jonathan Smith leads the firm’s industrial and consumer practice, including companies operating in the technical manufacturing, value-added distribution, industrial services, and branded and non-consumer branded products sectors.

For more than 21 years, Jonathan has focused on providing a combination of merger and acquisition (sell-side and buy-side), private placement (growth capital, minority and majority equity recapitalizations, and debt refinancings), and general financial advisory services to his clients. Jonathan’s clients include emerging growth businesses, established privately held middle market companies, financial sponsors, and large private and public corporations. He has been a key member of deal teams that have executed 100+ transactions.

 

Experience:

Jonathan joined Fairmount Partners in April 2005 as an associate, later becoming a vice president at the firm in 2006, a director in 2017, and a managing director in 2022. Prior to joining Fairmount, he was an associate at Brentwood Capital Advisors, a boutique investment bank focused on securing institutional capital (private equity, subordinated debt, and senior debt), principally for healthcare services companies. Before working for Brentwood Capital, he was a financial analyst at Robert W. Baird & Co., a global investment bank, with concentrated efforts on manufacturing and industrial technology sell-side mergers and acquisitions and public equity offerings.

Jonathan Smith received his B.B.A., magna cum laude, in Finance from Loyola University Maryland. Jonathan is registered with FINRA and is Series 7-, 63- and 79-licensed.
